“Wow! … My Kitchen expanded into the hallway!”

Every New York City apartment dweller has that dream of opening their closet door and discovering the huge room they always needed.  To renovate the kitchen of this typical walk-up apartment, I mimicked the hexagon pattern of the hallway mosaic floor so it looks as if the room pushed out and gained that much needed extra space.  To further accentuate the feeling of gaining square footage, I designed the mosaic so as to form visual patching around the column, door jams, and kicks of the cabinets.
