This composition was designed using stained glass pieces that I hand-cut into six sizes: 1x1, 1x2, 1x3, 1x4, 1x5, and 1x6 inch. I wanted a randomly arrived at “score”, so I assigned the number of a playing dice face (1 to 6) to each of the pieces, began rolling the dice, then laying out the pieces in that precise order. My predetermined structural rules were: the 1x1 pieces would proceed and follow the size determined by the dice roll and no grout lines would connect visually. This floor-to-ceiling mosaic is accentuated by the mother-of-pearl sheen and the texture hand-rolled into the glass during manufacturing.
